Gifts under $25

Nalgene 1L Widemouth Bottle ($21.95)

A classic water bottle that has been in both of our arsenal's basically since forever. These bottles are seriously indestructible, and the wide mouth makes for easy and quick filling from streams and lakes when we're on the trail.

Backpacker's Pantry Creme Brulee ($11.50)

We haven't actually tried this one yet, but since creme brulee is Katie's favourite food, this one had to make the list! We're definitely hoping someone gifts this to us this year... (wink wink, nudge nudge)

Backpacker's Pantry Pad Thai ($14.25)

This particular meal is one of the absolute best that we've had when it comes to pre-made, dehydrated backpacking foods. With real crushed peanuts and a peanut butter packet to add in, this is one backcountry meal we'd be happy to eat at home!

When we first saw this goggle lens protector, we thought it was the smartest thing! A super convenient way to keep your goggles protected without adding bulk, and also being easy to put on and remove with gloves on. They come in a ton of super fun colours and patterns too!

LuminAID USB String Lights Combo Pack ($24.95)

We have a similar set of twinkle lights semi-permanently installed in the ceiling of our Xterra for car camping and love them. This set, with the USB-rechargeability, would be great for shorter backpacking trips, too. Add a fun twinkle to your campsite!

These are the only socks you'll ever need - literally. With a lifetime warranty, once you have 8 pairs of these bad boys, you'll never need to buy another pair of socks again!
I got the chance to put their warranty to the test a couple months ago, and it was a really simple process - I sent in my old worn socks, and they sent me a brand new pair within a couple of weeks.

FlipFuel Fuel Transfer Device ($48.95)

It's always frustrating to have a pile of nearly-empty fuel canisters stacking up in the gear room, when they just don't have enough fuel left for you to trust them on a trip, but you can't recycle them either because they're not totally empty yet. Well this device solves that exact problem, by allowing the user to transfer fuel from one canister to another at home. This is another item that is on our wishlist this year!

In addition to backpacking, we enjoy international travel as well, and we often have to fly across the country for work too. This set is perfect for those carry-on sized essentials that you need to bring from home.

Goodr Circle G Sunglasses ($40.00)

I'm always on the lookout for another fun pair of shades, especially as I don't allllways take the best care of the ones that I have already... (Can you blame me for not wanting to carry the extra weight of a shades case?) This polarized pair is on trend and functional too.

It's not just leather goods that need to be maintained to live the longest life they can - this clothing kit will ensure technical gear gets the care it needs to keep performing for years to come.

Book: Backpacking on Vancouver Island ($26.95)

This one is a little more niche, for anyone who either lives on "Canada's Hawaii" or has plans to visit and explore. This book is a comprehensive guide to trails and more. We'd certainly be stoked to add it to our bookshelf this year!

Ruffwear Dirtbag Seat Cover ($108 - sale $81)

A durable, waterproof seat cover to keep your wet, muddy pup from messing up your car. This one is neat because it converts from a traditional to hammock-style arrangement, and maintains access to seatbelts. It's also machine washable!

Eagle Creek Pack-It Overnight Set ($95 - sale $76)

We own a few different sets of packing cubes, but I have to say our Eagle Creek ones are definitely my favourite.

Kahtoola MicroSpikes ($89.95)

An absolute must-have for any snowy (or slightly icy) adventure. These spikes come with their own durable carry-bag so you can throw them in your pack and not worry about them damaging your other stuff. We won't go on a winter hike without these!

Black Diamond Spot 400-R Headlamp ($79.95 - sale $59.96)

This is Katie's exact headlamp, and she loves it for many reasons. It's relatively lightweight, has two brightness (white light), and one red light setting, is easy to use even with mittens on, and is USB-rechargeable so we never have to worry about buying replacement batteries. In fact, Ryan has been so jealous of how nice this headlamp is, he's added it to his own Wishlist this year!

Sea to Summit Reactor Fleece Sleeping Bag Liner ($134.95 - Sale $101.21)

As the nights get chillier, add a little extra warmth with this fleece sleeping bag liner. A significantly more cost-friendly way to extend the usefullness of a 3-season sleeping bag (compared to a dedicated winter-weight bag). Also handy for travel!

MSR Lightning Ascent Snowshoes Women's 25" // Men's 25" ($509.95 - sale $382.46)

We each have a set of these snowshoes, and they are amazing. The women's version is slightly narrower, designed for the narrower female gait. The grip is fantastic, the binding system is so simple, and the easy-to-pop-up televators make steep climbs a breeze! Worth every penny, seriously.

Garmin inReach Mini 2 ($539.99 - Sale $399.99)

We have the regular-sized inReach, and though we've never had to use it in an emergency situation, it makes us (and our families) so much more comfortable knowing we have that communication and SOS link if we ever should need it. This version is smaller and lighter than the one we have, and if ours didn't still function just fine, we'd be opting for this model too.

Outdoor Research Coldfront Down Hoodie Women's Men's ($349.95 - Sale $262.46)

Ryan has had this down jacket for a few years now, since buying it on sale at our local Valhalla Pure Outfitters. Katie finally bought one last year, as the perfect throw-it-on-over-the-goretex-shell layer for ski touring days. It's also a fantastic piece to keep you warm on walks around town, and it packs down into it's own pocket. Oh - bonus! The insides of the pockets are super fleecy soft.
